George Strang's Report
Eighteen members and friends had a great golf day out at Kings Acre this year
it was dry under foot and sunny over head.
The highlight of the day was George S on the first tee
when he failed to get the ball past the ladies tee!
It's a good job Helen wasn't there, as there is some sort of forfeit for that kind of shot.
He had a mixed day and at one point threw his hat on the ground
although his driving got a bit better as the day went on.
He didn't always use the proper fairway
but did finish with a magnificent drive down the 18th
which ran past Alison Taylor to the front of the green.
Archie Craig's driving was wilder and on more than one occasion
he flushed out a "deer".
Lockhart and his group of George Brown and Jim Drumgold also struggled
and as they got to the 19th someone commented to George how fed up and tired they looked
Lockhart just said he was fed up counting.
The truth is that this was a day for the ladies,
five ladies in the top two teams out of seven in total
can only mean the handicaps are rubbish
and will need to be looked at for next year.
Margaret Richardson's longest drive at the second attempt
was thought to be dodgy and so Ladies longest drive went to Janet Leiper.
Nearest the pin for the ladies went to Margaret Brown.
Eric won the longest drive for the men
and Willie Baird was nearest the pin
just beating George S making it all the sweeter.
The winning team was Marion Craig, Janet Leiper and George Strang on 47 points
Second Margaret Brown, Margaret Richardson and Helen Grierson on 45 points
Third Willie Baird, Archie Craig and Bill Fraser on 44 points
